Our Story
Ryan Hartslief and Andrew Portmann are chartered accountants and the directors of Harts & Ports Chartered Accountants. They have worked with Money Carer in a business support capacity in recent years, and the two organisations realised that they were in a unique position to pool resources in a new partnership in order to provide a much-needed support service for vulnerable adults in the UK.

The directors of Harts & Ports Chartered Accountants are also founders of the Sprout Foundation; a charity focused on improving the life chances of school learners and leavers in South Africa with a particular emphasis on providing education and training for young, unemployed South Africans to become ‘job ready’.
Money Carer also supports the work undertaken by the Sprout Foundation and Money Carer team members have been involved in various activities to support local schools in South Africa that support underprivileged children in conjunction with the Sprout Foundation.

Ryan Hartslief
Director
Ryan proudly served his articles at BDO and is a qualified and registered Chartered Accountant. He has over 10 years of corporate sector experience in auditing, accounting, financial services, software development and business process outsourcing.
His commercial expertise and industry experience in business systems analysis, business process solutions, call centre operations and client services development were achieved during his time served as Group Chief Operations Officer and Director of the Upstream Group of companies, having provided services to the likes of Woolworths Financial Services, MR Price Money, RCS, Direct Axis, Capfin, Truworths and The Foschini Group.
Ryan is married with two children, is a self-professed coffee and food aficionado who is passionate about sports of any kind.

Andrew Portmann

Andrew’s professional journey began with serving his articles at BDO in Durban. After completing his articles, he moved on to join the Upstream group of companies in 2015, where he assumed the role of Group Chief Financial Officer. In this capacity, Andrew was responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategies of the Upstream group.
Throughout his career, Andrew has gained significant expertise in various aspects of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, particularly in financial, investment, and risk-based services. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the contact center environment, which involved managing and optimizing financial processes within these operations.
On the personal front, Andrew has always resided in Durban. He is married and has two children, indicating a focus on family life. Outside of work and family commitments, Andrew enjoys playing golf and indoor soccer.
